Troye Sivan battles The Killers for another ARIA Chart crown
Troye Sivan could land his second ARIA Albums Chart #1 this week, with his latest pop release In A Dream on track to crack the Top 3.
Sivan previously went atop the chart with his 2015 EP Wild, and also made it as high as #3 with his most recent album Bloom.
The Aussie singer-songwriter has tough competition from some international acts with pedigree on the chart, with the likes of Taylor Swift and Juice WRLD current occupying the top positions and the latest release by The Killers also on track for a high debut.
Mid-week data suggests that the band’s new record Imploding The Mirage is also on track for a podium place in its debut week.
Five previous albums by the US rockers cracked the Top 5 since their debut studio album Hot Fuss went to #1 in Australia back in 2006.
Since then, they’ve topped again with 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful and gone close with 2006’s Sam’s Town (#2), 2008’s Day & Age (#4) and 2012’s Battle Born (#2).
‘Take Yourself Home’ is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written,” Sivan said of the lead single.
“The song is kind of a pep talk with yourself and the place you’re from. Grappling with your place in the world.”
In A Dream is out locally through EMI Music Australia, and Sivan is selling album t-shirts with all proceeds going to WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Spotify’s COVID-19 Music Relief project.
