Tropical Fuck Storm signs with U.S. label Joyful Noise Recordings
Batten down the hatches, Americans, Tropical Fuck Storm is coming.
Gareth Liddiard’s TFS has signed with Joyful Noise Recordings, the U.S. indie-noise pop label which is home to Deerhoof, Jesus Lizard, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jnr, God Speed You Black Emperor, Melvins, Sufjan Steven and many more.
JNR will release TFS’ debut A Laughing Death Clown In Space on Oct. 26, which Liddiard says is the right album for America right now. “The band and myself are quietly confident that the U.S. release of ALDIMS will bridge America’s political divide and usher in a millennia long age of peace and prosperity,” he says in a statement.
Through the new arrangement, JNR will give the LP a push on digital and physical formats, including a “slime green” vinyl.
ALDIMS, which arrived in Australia back in May, was described by the Brag at the time as a “vicious thing, packed like soap into a sock, but it’s not some weighty exercise in existential drama. Rather, it’s full, counterintuitively, of life; a crackling, bleakly comic, beaming album about the end of the fucking world.”
TFS, an alt-rock supergroup of sorts, comprised of Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin (The Drones), Lauren Hammel (High Tension) and Erica Dunn (Harmony/Palm Springs), will play Winter Wild Festival in Apollo Bay next Thursday, followed by dates at Charlton Motel (Aug. 25) and Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong (Sept 30).
