FEATURE ALBUM
Northlane – Node
[UNFD]
Following a social media scavenger hunt that tested fans' zeal and coding skills –where clues were left in braille and in numbers taken from the classic phone keyboard –an instrumental version of first taster Ra was released. This was followed by a video for Obelisk and most recently, 26 snippets were unveiled for the track Leech.
While it's clear Northlane fans are as tech-savvy as they are committed, the band's forthcoming LP has a hard act to follow. Singularity, the last album recorded with original frontman Adrian Fitipaldes, peaked at #3 on the ARIA chart, was voted #1 album by triple j Short Fast Loud listeners and #1 album by triple j The Racket listeners in 2013.With Marcus Bridge now offering a favoured aesthetic to Northlane's sound, Node is serrated in parts, hypnotic in others, but carrying on Fitipaldes' legacy, always pointed.
