Introducing: The Acid – sometimes stylised as ᑄ ᑄ ᗌ ᑄ,∴, or countless other un-searchable strings, so let’s just stick with The Acid. Made up of Sydney-born, now LA/Berlin based songwriter Ry X (who’s song Berlin has been gaining countless fans worldwide for the past few months), Grammy nominated DJ and label owner Adam Freeland (who was one of the kings of the UK breakbeat scene during its heyday in the early to mid 2000s), and LA composer, audiovisual producer and art publisher (as well as a Yale graduate in Mathematics) Steve Nalepa.

Together they have been quietly making music since mid last year under a veil of anonymity, but only recently unveiled their true personalities and hence grabbed the attention of global taste-makers with their self-titled EP, which is now getting a local release.

A film clip for the first single off the EP, Basic Instinct, has just been released, and highlights the delicate and intricate nature of The Acid, filled with hypnotic, sparse and totally unique electronic-fuelled minimalist indie.

The group may have been born in 2013, but 2014 is the year of The Acid. Watch this space.
