Triple J pick of the week: REMI, Livin

The winner of the 2013 J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year has dropped the first taste of his much anticipated debut record Raw x Infinity.

Remi burst onto our radar last year with upbeat party jams like Sangria and Saggin’, but on his new track Livin we see a more reflective and deep side to the Melbourne emcee, driven by a heavy, smoky beat from producer and long-time collaborator Sensible J. Remi started writing rhymes in 2010 and hooked up with Sensible J soon afterwards, who introduced him to artists such as Black Thought, Mos Def and Common.

In the past twelve months he’s graced the stage alongside Joey Bada$$, Danny Brown and De La Soul, a successful year which was capped by Sangria placing at #85 in the Hottest 100. Remi is taking his new track on the road during February, and dropping Raw x Infinity later on in 2014.
