triple j is set to sound a little bit different in 2019, with the station saying farewell to two of its beloved presenters; Brooke Boney and KLP.

For two years now, Brooke Boney has been a friendly voice on triple j Breakfast each morning, serving as the much-loved news presenter, and helping to sort out Ben & Liam when necessary.

Brooke’s exceptional news bulletins caught the attention of numerous listeners, thanks in part by prefacing her reports by saying ‘Yaama’, which translates to ‘Hello’ in Gamilaroi – the language of her people in Northern New South Wales.

“I’m really going to miss waking up with all of you and my lovely mates Ben and Liam but I’m super excited to be working on some new stuff across other parts of the ABC!” Brooke explained of her move.

“I have always been a triple j listener and (like many of you) feel like it formed a big part of who I am today, so it’s been a real honour.”

Of course, if you’re wondering who will be stepping up to take Brooke Boney’s place, you’ll be welcoming the familiar face of Alice Matthews to the triple j Breakfast team. A respected journalist and Walkley Award winner, Alice has been heard on triple j for some time, reading the news and serving as a reporter for Hack.

Sadly, the goodbyes don’t end there, with KLP announcing that after five years as Saturday night House Party host, she’ll be moving on to bigger and better things.

“Five years flies when you’re having a ball partying with Australia every Saturday night!” KLP explained of her departure.

“I grew up listening to triple j and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would one day be the host of a show that is full of so much music and good energy.”

“While I love being on the radio, writing and performing music of my own has always been my number one love, and I’ve decided to step back so I have more time to focus on that. I’ve been working away on some exciting releases that I can’t wait to share with you in 2019!”

While triple j will be announcing a new House Party presenter in early 2019, Double J will also be making a small change, with Stu Buchanan and his show Fat Planet moving around, becoming a segment on Double J Arvos with Tim Shiel.

Double J are also set to announce a pair of new programs early in the new year, so keep an ear out to hear what your 2019 will be sounding like.
