Former major label exec Trent Titmarsh launches new promo biz

After 15 years working for the man, Trent Titmarsh has gone solo.

The well-respected music industry executive left EMI Music in February, where he managed the promotions and publicity team, working hit records for some the world’s biggest pop stars.

“2020 is the year for new beginnings,” Titmarsh told TMN on Thursday. “After 15 collective years working for EMI, I’m now out on my own and freelancing.”

Titmarsh is off to an impressive start. His first client was British superstar Sam Smith, who engaged Titmarsh to oversee on-ground promo during a recent trip to Sydney for Mardi Gras.

Titmarsh is also on the frontline for Swedish artist NEA, working a remix of her radio smash ‘Some Say’. He’s landed national radio additions from Nova and Hit for client Sony Music.

He’s plugging new single ‘Lonely’ from Anthony Callea too, which shot straight to #1 on the independent charts off the back of an isolation-theme viral video with husband Tim Campbell.

Titmarsh received a plaque from EMI for 13 years of “glittery & fabulous” service in 2019.

The longtime publicist for Ricki-Lee, a relationship that continues today, Titmarsh told TMN there are “more exciting projects to come” in the months ahead.

Services include national radio servicing, publicity, artist relations, media training and consulting.

“I have over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry and have a proven strong infectious passion, drive and work ethic to take on any project or task,” he said.

Major labels have been the launchpad for many of Australia’s top music publicists.

Titmarsh first worked at EMI as a sales and promotions assistant in 1999, and rejoined the company in 2007 after stints at DMG Radio (now NOVA Entertainment) and Tab Corp.

After returning as Queensland’s media manager, he rose through the ranks to become director of PR and media at the major, including its integration into Universal Music Group.

During his 15 years at EMI, Titmarsh looked after some of music’s biggest hitters, from international superstars Katy Perry and Elton, to local experts 5SOS and Troye Sivan.
