Tones And I Ready to ‘Fly’ Into U.K. Top 10
Tones And I is on the brink of a second U.K. Top 10.
‘Fly Away’ (via Parlophone) zooms 19-10 on the midweek chart, sprouting new wings in its 11th week.
The single catches fire through good old-fashioned buzz and growth, and it does so without radio or syncs.
If it holds its position when the weekly survey is published late Friday (Aug. 20), it’ll give the one-time busker her second breakout in the U.K., following ‘Dance Monkey.’
‘Dance Monkey’ is, of course, a monster hit in Britain. During its irresistible run in 2019, the track ruled the Official U.K. Singles Chart for 11 weeks, a record for a female solo artist.
Since its release, ‘Dance Monkey’ has logged 104 weeks – and counting – on the national chart, and made Tones the No. 1 songwriter on the planet last year.

Tones (real name Toni Watson) will connect with her U.K. fans early next year when she embarks on a pan-European tour, kicking off Feb. 14, 2022 at London’s Eventim Apollo.
Her tour in support of Welcome to the Madhouse will visit the U.S. and Canada in March.
Tones isn’t the only Aussie artist making an impact on the midweek U.K. chart.
Just below the summit is The Kid Laroi’s ‘Stay’ (Columbia), the Sydney singer and rapper’s collaboration with Justin Bieber.
‘Stay’ continues a lengthy run at No. 2, behind Ed Sheeran’s all-conquering comeback single ‘Bad Habits’ (Asylum).
