Tones And I breaks the all-time ARIA Singles Chart record

Tones And I has shattered the record set by UK superstar Ed Sheeran for the most weeks spent in the #1 position on the ARIA Singles Chart. Last week, the Australian singer and songwriter equalled the record with the singer, as they both held 15 weeks atop the charts.

‘Dance Monkey’ has now spent 16 weeks at the summit of the chart, absolutely destroying Sheeran’s 2017 hit ‘Shape Of You’, and making the track the first Australian single to hold the longest-serving record since 1983 when ARIA first launched the charts.

With many speculating that the Aussie singer would smash her own record last week, it seems she has gone and done just that, proving to the music landscape that she has the credentials to back up her incredible talent.

The single is also on the rise in the US, having admittedly taken a bit longer to find traction in America. The latest Billboard Hot 100 has ‘Dance Monkey’ at a new peak of #23, up 18 positions in its fifth charting week.

In other ARIA news, Luke Combs has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Top 100 Albums Chart with his brand new project What You See Is What You Get.

While promoting his new album What You See Is What You Get on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, Luke Combs revealed he could have gone down another career path.

While Combs described himself as “a pretty bad student,” he originally had another occupation path in mind before becoming a country music superstar.

“My major was criminal justice. I wanted to be a homicide detective. That’s actually what I wanted to do,” he told Kimmel.

“People are pretty surprised by it… if you’ve noticed, I don’t actually have the physical build of a police officer.”
