There’s little doubting that has transitioned from the biggest act in Australia to the country’s hottest export in recent months.

The foundation for her prolificacy can be traced back to continued support from local radio, with new single ‘Bad Child’ now in its second week at #1 on the TMN Australian Airplay Chart.

The chart – which re-launched in 2019 when TMN transitioned to Radio Monitor as our charts data source – pulls all Australian acts from the TMN Hot 100 and ranks the Top 50.

Tones And I is, incredibly, the only act to hold the #1 position in the 22 weeks since it the new chart launched. This week she holds off competition from 5 Seconds Of Summer, Sgt Slick and Guy Sebastian who make up the Top 5.

Her breakout hit ‘Dance Monkey’ hit #1 on the final edition of the old chart, before holding that position for two more weeks on the new version.

Following that, Tones would remain at the summit thanks to a dominant 18-week run for ‘Never Seen The Rain’ (which is still at #2). Now ‘Bad Child’ looks set to continue her dominance over all local rivals.

Unsurprisingly then, Sony Music Australia continues to hold a dominant slice of the market share pie for the Aussie Airplay Chart.

The major has a whipping 46.76% share, thanks not only to Tones, but also the longevity of Guy Sebastian’s ‘Choir’ (#5 after 22 weeks) and the rising Sam Fischer with ‘This City’ (up three spots to #8) both in the Top 10.

‘Bad Child’ is also the highest local tune on the Hot 100, climbing three frames to #15 this week.
