TikTok launches Australian-exclusive radio station, ‘TikTok Trending’

TikTok has partnered with iHeartRadio to launch its very own Australian-exclusive radio station, TikTok Trending

From today onwards, TikTok Trending will be broadcast on-air 24/7 for the next three months.

The station is set to feature all the tunes that are blowing up over TikTok, from emerging artists to re-invigorated classics put back in the spotlight.

TikTok Trending will feature four hosts – G Flip, Isaiah Firebrace, Tannar and Avneesha.

Not only is G Flip one of Australia’s most popular performers, but she is as entertaining as she is musically inclined. The ARIA-nominated artist has also tried her hand at creating a number of hilarious TikToks.

Meanwhile, Firebrace finished in the Top 10 at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest and is one of the most-streamed Indigenous Australian artists. He has utilised TikTok to share his renditions of Usher and Adele, and is now recognised for his videos as regularly as he is for his appearances on the likes of The X Factor and The Masked Singer.

As if G Flip and Firebrace’s star power wasn’t enough, TikTok creator Tannar boasts over 900k followers on the platform. After originally rising to fame alongside her famous gamer brother LazerBeam, they often collaborate on content for her fun-filled TikTok account.

To top it all off, Avneesha has over 1 million TokTok followers and has just started releasing her own music as a singer-songwriter. There’s no doubt she will have her finger on the pulse of what’s hot on both TikTok and in the music world.

As for what exactly to expect from the station, it will shine a spotlight on the stories behind the TikTok-trending music it plays.

With different hosts programming and presenting each hour on the station, listeners will also get the low-down on non-music related trends on TikTok, like new effects and challenges.

On top of that, the station will also feature a line-up of guests hosts that will include popular creators and both national and international stars. The first guest host is set to be platinum-selling artist Rita Ora, who holds the UK chart record for most Top 10 singles by a British female artist.

In a statement, iHeartRadio’s Content Director Brett ‘Nozz’ Nossiter revealed the station aims to “amplify” music to an even bigger audience.

“We share the TikTok community’s passion for exploring, creating and enjoying a diverse array of music, and we’re so excited to be able to support emerging and established musicians who have enjoyed success on TikTok, and amplify their music to an even bigger audience of fans,” he said.

As of today, the TikTok Trending on iHeartRadio digital radio station will be available for Australians to stream exclusively on their desktop, mobile or tablet via iheart.com.

The station can also be accessed on smart devices like an Apple TV or smart speaker.

Lastly, the station is also available on DAB+ Digital radio in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
