Ticketek owner TEG buys the #1 ticketing company in Malaysia
TEG, owner of Ticketek and a suite of live events assets, has acquired the #1 ticketing company in Malaysia, TicketCharge.
With offices in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, the acquisition will see TEG establish a new Asian division based in Singapore. The office will provide ticketing services as well as deliver live content throughout Asia.
The acquisition precedes a soon to be announced partnership in Asia involving TEG’s global ticketing software licensing business Softix.
TEG CEO Geoff Jones said: “TEG is the largest diversified entertainment company in Asia Pacific and we have a track record and accumulated expertise in the entertainment industry.
“We see huge opportunities in many offshore markets and our strategy puts us on course to becoming a truly international promoter and service producer.”
Last July TEG purchased the touring business controlled by veteran promoter Paul Dainty, rebranding the Dainty business to TEG-Dainty. It marked TEG’s most significant transaction since it was bought by Affinity Equity Partners from Nine Entertainment Co in April 2015.
