Pressure on Live Nation to clarify Harry Styles ANZ Tour

Pressure on Live Nation to clarify Harry Styles ANZ Tour

Everyone’s wild about Harry Styles.

Though whether Harry will actually fulfill his tour Australia in the weeks ahead is now a storm of confusion that’s roped in two of the biggest players in live music.

A brouhaha blew up on the weekend as fans of the former One Direction star demanded answers to a simple question. Will Harry Styles’ 2020 tour of Australia and New Zealand actually go ahead?

It’s an unlikely scenario. The pandemic has grounded flights around the globe, and entry to our borders would likely come with a 14-day quarantine for Styles and his crew (although Tom Hanks and Co. were able to score a special dispensation for shooting the Elvis biopic).

And there’s the problem of social distancing at his planned arena shows.

So no show? Not so fast.

On Saturday (12th September), Ticketek delivered the twist no one saw coming.

“The Harry Styles Australia & New Zealand tour is proceeding as planned and we are excited to welcome everyone to the events in November and December,” an official tweet reads.

“In the event of a cancellation, exchanges and refunds will be processed according to AU/NZ consumer law.

Harry’s tour dates are still posted to the Live Nation website, which feature seven Australian dates kicking off Nov. 20 with the first of two nights at Qudos Bank Arena.

The Sydney venue is owned by T.E.G. and its ticketing is handled by its affiliate, Ticketek.

At this stage, there’s no clarity on whether the shows will go ahead.

A spokesman for Ticketek pointed to a statement issued by the ticketing giant on social media. It reads, “Ticketek takes its instructions on any news on the Harry Styles tour from the promoter, Live Nation Australia. We are urgently seeking clarification from the promoter and will be back to fans as soon as we have further information from them.”

TIO has reached out to Live Nation for comment. It could be said that Live Nation is simply getting all its ducks in a row before a public announcement, which they may be hoping will include exact rescheduled dates.

Styles and One Direction have been back in the news, thanks to the boyband’s recent 10th anniversary.

Harry and three of his former bandmates got in on the action. [To] the boys, I love you so much, and I couldn’t be prouder of everything we achieved together,” Styles wrote on Twitter.
