Thrashville festival axed for January 2019

One of Dashville’s three events in the Lower Belford bush in NSW’s Hunter Valley has been scrapped for January.

The one-day punk and metal Thrashville has been axed because promoters are uncertain about its viability being held in bushfire season, especially during a drought.

“We’re still working out exactly when, but it’s likely not to be January, due to the increasing dangers posed by extreme heat and dry conditions in the bush at that time of the year,” their statement said.

“It’s also evident that January appears to be a tricky time of year to which some rockers can commit to a party in the bush.”

For the past two years, this year’s event was soundtracked by Frenzal Rhomb, King Parrot, Frankenbok and Batpiss.

Dashville’s The Gum Ball goes ahead on April 25 to 28 next year.

The bluegrass, alt-country, and psychedelic Dashville Skyline is held during the NSW Labor Day long weekend, with The Waifs, C.W. Stoneking, The Bushwackers, William Crighton, Melody Pool, Georgia State Line and Grace Turner.
