Thomas Headon is eyeing a U.K. Top 10 debut with ‘Victoria’

Thomas Headon is on the cusp of a major breakthrough in the U.K., where his new EP is vying for a top 10 debut.

The London-born, Melbourne-raised artist is in a solid position in the chart race with Victoria (via Warner Records), which starts at No. 9 on the midweek survey.

The five-track collection leads new releases from Lil Durk, Bodega, Boo Radleys and a Blink-182 retrospective, for a chance at a top tier entry.

Victoria gets a head start in the U.K. — a Top 5 market — thanks to Radio 1 support for ‘Strawberry Kisses,’ a song that captures the tale of a youngster who’s batting out of his league, and the teenage kicks number ‘Nobody Has To Know,’ which has enjoyed rotation on triple j.

“I’ve written the ‘Victoria’ EP over the course of six months in a bunch of different places,” Headson says of his recording.

“It’s basically a look into my diary over the past half-year. It’s been quite a big step for me, putting out songs that are super honest and mean so much to me,” he continues, “but it feels great and I hope there’s a teenager somewhere experiencing what I did making this EP and relates to it in the same way.”

Clearly, there are teens in the U.K. who are getting the message.

Now aged 21, Headon returned to his place of birth just prior to the pandemic, and got to work on building an online community.

His TikTok account is a hive of activity, pulling in more than 431,000 followers and gaining 16 million likes across his creations.

The singer and songwriter began producing his own music in his late teens, and released two self-written, self-produced EPs, ‘The Greatest Hits’ and ‘The Goodbye EP,’ in 2020.

Brits got a head-start on Victoria when he performed at the 2021 Reading & Leeds Festivals.

Australian fans will get their chance when he returns next month for dates in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne for a tour produced by Chugg Entertainment and Frontier Touring, and when he joins the lineup for Groovin the Moo.
