The Voice announces spin-off show, The Voice: Generations

There will be another reality singing competition in 2022, with Channel 7 announcing The Voice: Generations is now casting.

The television network said audiences should expect to see the most-talented families – made up of supportive parents, cute kids, gorgeous grandparents, unforgettable siblings, aunts, uncles and blended families – take to the stage.

This year’s iteration of The Voice hasn’t even screened yet, however the Seven Network’s director of programming, Angus Ross, said it already deserved a spin-off.

“The incredible new season of The Voice which debuts after the Olympics is the best yet,” he said.

“We are so thrilled with the series, we think it deserves a spin-off and The Voice: Generations is the perfect way to add an exciting new dimension to the format.”

The series will be produced by ITV Studios Australia.

CEO and managing director, David Mott, said The Voice: Generations will create unforgettable, heartfelt moments for everyone to enjoy.

“This global television first will be an incredible addition to The Voice brand, and we cannot wait to bring this to life. It is a brilliant opportunity for ‘generations’ to showcase their talents on stage, together for the first time,” he said.

The show will be hosted by Sonia Kruger.

In 2022, Channel 7 is also due to screen a revived edition of Australian Idol.

And while The Voice will go ahead in the coming months, it was forced to pull the pin on Australia’s Got Talent for the second time this year due to COVID-19 lockdowns,

The Voice: Generations is open for casting now.
