‘The Songroom’ back for third season, set to film before live audiences
Melbourne television and digital channels program The Songroom is back for its third season, and filming with a live audience through November and December.
Guests include William Crighton, Gawurra, Liz Stringer, Clare Moore, Dave Graney, Rudely Interrupted, Tim McMillan and Rachel Snow.
Hosted by Jess McGuire (Double J, ABC Melbourne), The Songroom format invites musicians to come onstage to talk, perform their own material and songs that were influential in their journey, and collaborate with musicians they have never met or shared a stage with.
Says producer Kris Schroeder, “When an artist is hot, the opportunities are seemingly endless.
“This isn’t the case when they are starting out, nor when they’ve become last month’s flavour.
“But the times when they’re out of the limelight are often when they’re doing their most interesting, most daring work.
“The Songroom is about celebrating these legends and aspirants, precious few platforms provide this focus.”
Season 3 sees the show also expand to regional centres as Castlemaine and Bendigo, which have thriving music scenes.
“The format’s real strength is in its mobility, we’d love to get The Songroom on the road as a touring vehicle across Australia allowing our focus to include truly local artists and audiences,” reveals Schroeder.
