The most played tracks of Survey 6
It proved to be a problematic survey period for CHR this year. Winter is never a favourable time of year for the format, with talk stations reigning supreme. The same sex marriage debate and football hype fueled the talk-back fire, stealing a good deal of the 25-39 market.
The most played songs on radio this survey prove it’s all about Niall Horan and Liam Payne (no doubt to the sheer joy of EMI). The two spent the better part of the survey period duking it out at the very top of the Hot 100, but we didn’t think it would be this close. The chart, pulled from Aircheck, shows that both artists were the only two to crack over 7000+ soins, with Niall sitting pretty at 7250, tailed by Liam at 7178. That is a different of 78 spins… crikey.
Only one Australian lead artist makes the Top 10 – Jess Mauboy with ‘Fallin’’ – while Jonas Blue’s ’Mama’ features Australian William Singe.
Country superstar and crossover story of the year Sam Hunt enjoyed a good survey, collecting a solid 6283 spins this time around.Fellow TMN coverstarMorgan Evans wasn’t as lucky, ranking at #42 with ‘Kiss Somebody’. Still, his 2180 spins on CHR is nothing to laugh at, especially for a country artist.
