The Kid Laroi Caps Massive Homecoming Month With Management Reunion

The Kid Laroi Caps Massive Homecoming Month With Management Reunion

The month of May has been a special kind of homecoming for the Kid Laroi, during which time the Aussie teen has scooped awards, embarked on a victory lap of arenas, taken a leap up the sales charts and rekindled his relationship with previous management.

Earlier this week, news broke that the Kid had re-signed with Scooter Braun for management, joining a busy roster at SB Projects that includes Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, K-pop stars CL and Psy, and others.

Laroi isn’t coming in from the cold. The Grammy Award-nominated artist had signed with Braun in June 2021, then split three months later due to what Billboard described at the time as “significant problems” with the business.

Those problems have, apparently, been resolved.

Laroi (real name Charlton Howard) returns to the fold just one month after cutting ties with Adam Leber’s Rebel Management, Variety has confirmed, with a new set of assurances.

It would appear, some homestyle cooking was all the Kid needed.

According to Variety, Laroi and his mother, Sloane Howard, opened the lines of communication and signed a new management deal about a week ago with a pledge that the uber-manager “will be directly involved in overseeing all aspects of the artist’s career.”

TMN connected the dots when the pair were spotted together backstage at the singer and rapper’s sold-out show at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney last Thursday night (May 26), the opener for his national run.

The sighting — and reunion — comes as Laroi basks in the glory of a first headline tour of his homeland.

“20,000 people, 2 back to back nights in my own city,” he wrote following a two-night stand at The Q. “3 years ago I played in a store for 200 people. I have cried like 5 times i fkn love you all so much thank you thank you thank you.”

Fans are thanking the artist by snapping up tickets for his End Of The World Tour, which has stretched to eight dates across Australia’s five main cities.

Handsome Tours, TEG Live and Sony Music Australia are producing the trek, which wraps June 7 with the second of two nights at Brisbane’s Riverstage.

Meanwhile, The Kid Laroi’s chart-leading mixtape F*ck Love lifts 20-12 on the latest ARIA Albums Chart, and two of his singles, “Stay” with Justin Bieber (No. 18) and “Thousand Miles” (No. 20), impact the national Top 20.

The Kid’s year has started out much like the last — at or near the top.

The Los Angeles-based Sydneysider was on fire at the 2022 APRA Awards early May as “Stay,” his record-busting Billboard Hot 100 and ARIA Singles Chart leader, won the night’s top prize for song of the year.

He also collected APRAs for most performed hip-hop / rap work for “Without You” and the coveted songwriter of the year.

“Thousand Miles” is lifted from his debut full-length album, Kids Are Growing Up, due out this year.
