The Kid LAROI is closing in on an ARIA chart record

The Kid LAROI is on the brink of a fully-grown up chart record.

Aged just 17, the Sydney Kamilaroi singer and rapper would become the youngest Australian solo artist to have an ARIA No. 1 LP should F*ck Love (Savage) secure the top spot later this week.

It’s favorite to do just that.

F*ck Love has been knocking on the door for the ARIA Albums Chart chart title over the past three weeks, and was pipped last week by Bluey, which itself set an unusual record.

The Kid’s debut mixtape has just certified gold, with a top position of No. 2 and it’s on track to go one better.

Laroi, known to family and friends as Charlton Howard, has already nailed three platinum ARIA singles — ‘So Done,’ ‘Go’ and ‘Without You’ — and five gold ARIA singles, according to Sony Music, and F*ck Love (Savage) hasn’t left the ARIA Top 40 since the original mixtape was released in July.

Were it not for the domination of Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License,’ Laroi’s ‘Without You’ would be the No. 1 single this week the U.K.

It’s currently at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

Now based in Los Angeles, Laroi recently teamed up with Campbell Walker for a new ‘Struthless’ video, animating in detail how he got his leg up in the music industry.

It’s some story. The Kid Laroi lifted his game to another level in 2020, as F*ck Love cracked the Top 10 on the U.S. albums chart, he scored a hattrick of ARIA Award nominations, and Spotify and TikTok declared him one of the global break-out stars of the year.

Through his break as a Spotify RADAR artist, The Kid this week released his inaugural Spotify Singles recordings, an acoustic cut of ‘Without You’ and a stripped-down cover of Juice WRLD’s ‘Lean Wit Me,’ a tribute to his late mentor.

The youngster has been on a tear with Spotify of late, say reps for the streamer, with his music being programmed on 349 editorial Spotify playlists and 6.5 million fan playlists over the past month.

‘Without You’ has amassed more than 170 million streams on the platform, and has been on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Singles charts since 10th December — eight straight weeks — and is currently No. 8 on the chart, while F*ck Love (Savage) has raced past 1 billion streams.
