The Black Keys head up first announcement for Bluesfest 2015

Former Editor

The Black Keys, Zac Brown Band, Train and George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic head up the fist lineup announcement for Bluesfest 2015.

In May this year The Black Keys saw their eighth album Turn Blue debut at #1 on the ARIA chart and on the Billboard 200. The headline spot on Bluesfest fuels rumours of a full national tour in 2015.

In 2015 it will be nine years since The Black Keys have performed at Bluesfest,” said Festival Director Peter Noble, “and six years since Dan Auerbach performed solo, back then you could see them in your ’Local’ when they toured.”

Making their Bluesfest debut will be three-time Grammy Award winners Train. The band will perform new material from their upcoming September release Bulletproof Picasso.

Back again next April is US country/folk band Zac Brown Band – the five-piece performed Bluesfest 2013. Just last month Pollstar listed them as the fifth highest concert grossing band in the US, currently grossing over US$1.1 million nightly.

Also heading to Byron Bay from April 2-6 next year are Bluesfest 2013 favourites Alabama Shakes, the US rockers will play twice over the five days; Paul Kelly and his Merri Soul Sessions assemble, which features Dan Sultan, Kira Puru and Vika & Linda Bull; Xavier Rudd, who will be debuting his new band The United Nations; funk pioneer George Clinton and genre blending collective Michael Franti & Spearhead.

All Festival and Camping tickets are on sale through www.bluesfest.com.au or by phoning the office on 02 6685 8310.
