The Avalanches, Thelma Plum, DMA’S and more have been announced for this weekend’s episode of ABC music series The Sound.

The electronic duo’s performance, featuring Texan artist Leon Bridges, has been recorded at the Melbourne Planetarium and comes before the arrival of their third studio album, We Will Always Love You, due out on December 11.

For the third episode of its second season, The Sound will also feature performances from Sam Fischer, Middle Kids and emerging acts Odette and Merci, Mercy.

As always, the episode will be hosted by Jane Gazzo and Bridget Hustwaite, along with special guest and former triple j presenter Matt Okine.

For the weekly tribute performance, Youth Group, Clare Bowditch, Bob Evans and Carla Geneve will join forces to honour WA band The Triffids.

The show will also broadcast archival footage of Silverchair for its ‘From The Vault’ segment.

Last weekend’s episode of The Sound celebrated First Nations artists for NAIDOC Week, featuring performances from Briggs, Archie Roach, Electric Fields and more.

The Sound broadcasts on Sundays at 6pm and Saturdays at 1:30pm on ABC TV.
