The Association of Artist Managers teams with music college Collarts

The Association of Artist Managers (AAM) has officially teamed up with Australian music college Collarts for a mentoring program.

Collarts Artist Management students will receive full membership to the AAM half way through their degree, which allows them access to mentorship from a global network of seasoned managers and industry professionals.

The AAM is the only official Australian partner of the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) and as such acts as the peak body to advocate for and promote the issues facing music managers and their artists.

They have lobbied to ensure internationally touring artists consistently feature Australian acts, worked with the NSW State Government to ensure best practice in the licensing an regulation of entertainment venues and have worked with the IMMF to create a global code of conduct for music managers.

The current AAM Board features Australian music management industry heavyweights including Catherine Haridy (Eskimo Joe, Jebediah), Briese Abbott (PVT, Elizabeth Rose) and Bill Cullen (Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko).

It’s the first time AAM have partnered with a university and Collarts say students involved in the program will have the ability to fast track many of the years of trial and error through mentoring with veterans of the industry.

“AAM is enthusiastic about investing in the next generation of artist managers and this platform provided by Collarts will assist in ensuring we are taking further steps for achieving this goal,” said Greg Carey, AAM Spokesperson and founder of Umbrella Music.
