Telstra Road To Discovery finalist Reuben Koops will be supporting John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John on their Australian tour.

The 22-year-old Tasmania-born singer/songwriter with join the artist icons this weekend at their Margaret River concert on April 4 and at their Hunter Valley show on April 18.

Speaking to TMN, Koops said Farnham and Newton-John selected him out of the Telstra Road To Discovery finalists. “[It’s] really humbling and I'm really looking forward to it. It will be the highest profile support I have played so far and the largest live crowds, which is going to be something new and exciting.”

Last month, Koops released his Slate EP. The release was mastered by Grammy Award winner William Bowden (Gotye, Empire Of The Sun) and featured Cameron Bruce on keyboards (Paul Kelly, Josh Pyke) and Brett Wood on guitar (Pete Murray, 360).

This month Koops heads to LA to work with producer David Ryan Harris (John Mayer, Guy Sebastian, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey) on his next release. Koops told TMN Harris has set up studio time with session musicians Sean Hurley on bass (John Mayer, Rob Thomas), Jeff Babko on keyboards (Frank Ocean, Jason Mraz, Sheryl Crow) and Victor Indrizzo on drums (Macy Gray, Seal, Damien Rice).

“I’m super excited to see how the songs I've written come up with the help of all these guys who are at the top of their game,” said Koops.

Farnham and Newton-John’s 'Two Strong HeartsTour' runs over six dates, finishing on April 19 at Qantas Credit Union Arena (Sydney Entertainment Centre).
