Tegan and Sara cancel Australian tour
PRESS RELEASE:
As Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ and Melbourne Zoo Twilights enter their sixth weekend of live performances for the 2017 Series, we are saddened to announce that due to health concerns, Tegan and Sara have had to cancel their Australian tour, including their two Zoo dates on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th March. There are currently no plans to reschedule these performances. Full refunds will be automatically processed for all ticket holders. Please see below for full statement from the band.
Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara, says: “It is with the heaviest heart that I type this. I became very ill on the final days of our European tour in February, and even while taking antibiotics and steroids, I still lost my voice completely. After a second round of antibiotics and steroids upon returning home last week, I still have not recovered my voice or received a clean bill of health. At the recommendation of my GP, I have decided to postpone our Australian/New Zealand tour to continue my recovery and ensure I don’t do longer-term damage to my singing voice and health.
“It is a point of pride that we always follow through with our commitments, and in 17 years of touring I can count on one hand the number of shows we’ve had to cancel. I send our deep apologies to our fans, our team in Australia and New Zealand, as well as our promoters. To fans who have made travel plans and those who will be disappointed to hear this news, please know that we will be missing you all this coming week and promise to make it up to you soon. To our support acts – Theia, Bec Sandridge, and Montaigne – we are truly sorry to not be able to share the stage with you.
Best wishes to you all,
xoTegan (and Sara)”
Ticket-holders will receive an automatic full refund to their original payment method within 3-5 business days. If ticket-holders have any further queries they can contact ticket support at [email protected]
The ultimate destination for music lovers each year, Melbourne Zoo Twilights and Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ will see audiences soak up the splendour of summer, as the sun sets over the inner-city gem Melbourne Zoo and harbour-fronted Taronga Zoo. With only two weekends left of the 2017 Series, there are still stellar performances from Kurt Vile, The Living End, Martha Wainwright, Teenage Fanclub and The Specials on the calendar.
All proceeds from the Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ and Melbourne Zoo Twilights summer concert series go towards their respective conservation work. In 2017, Taronga Zoo will champion the first global community action tool, Wildlife Witness to help in the fight against illegal wildlife trade. Zoos Victoria have been fighting the extinction of the Eastern Barred Bandicoot, playing a key role in the recovery of the species, increasing community awareness and building programs to reintroduce it to the wild.
