Taylor Swift most tweeted about in Australia during Grammys

Taylor Swift was the most twittered about in Australia during the Grammys broadcast, followed by Justin Bieber.

The Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings Australia reported the show had a unique Australian audience of 201,900 with a total of 76,100 tweets and 1.9 million impressions. The hashtag #grammys received nearly 30,000 mentions.

The top social moment was when Swift won album of the year and made the point during her acceptance speech “There will be people who try to ’take credit’ for your ’fame’.”

The day time broadcast on Foxtel drew 38,000 with 58,000 tuning in for the evening broadcast.

It was a different story in the United States where Justin Bieber was most tweeted-about artist, followed by Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Adele.

On Twitter, 17.2 million tweets were viewed 2.1 billion times. The most-tweeted moments were when Ed Sheeran won Song of the Year for Thinking Out Loud, Kendrick Lamar performed The Blacker the Berry and Alright and Meghan Trainor took out Best New Artist over Courtney Barnett.

Over at Facebook, 21 million generated over 50 million posts, likes and comments. This was a rise from last year’s Grammys when 17 million generated 45 million interactions on the world’s largest social media platform. This year’s Golden Globes only attracted 19 million interactions from 9 million people.

Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie generated the most response, followed by Kendrick Lamar’s performance and the Lionel Richie tribute by John Legend, Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan, Meghan Trainor and Tyrese.

The Grammys’ US viewership for the three-hour telecast from the Staples Center in Los Angeles was 24.95 million. It was a slight dip to last year’s tune-in and was the lowest ratings in six years.

In terms of streaming, there were 8 million page views, 1.2 million unique users and 145,000 peak concurrent users of non-televised awards, red carpet, second-screen cameras and post show interviews.

Shazam users used the app nearly 1 million times to discover details of what they were hearing, leading to more than 25,000 sales for songs heard during the telecast.

On Instagram, 15 million people generated 53 million interactions. The most-liked photos were Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez on the red carpet, Justin Bieber kissing his little brother, Bieber on the red carpet, and Ariana Grande’s outfit and her earrings.
