Tash Sultana records cover track for PlayStation’s ‘The Last Of Us Part II’
As part of a new partnership between Sony Music Australia and PlayStation Australia, Tash Sultana has covered the theme song from the acclaimed video game The Last Of Us.
Sultana recorded a version of the track in the lead up to the release of the highly-anticipated follow-up The Last Of Us Part II. The iconic tune featured in the game’s reveal trailer, which went viral in 2016.
The Aussie singer-songwriter lends her vocals and guitar-playing for a rendition of the track that respects the arrangement and intensity of the original.
“Through The Valley’ became a #1 hit in several markets when featured in the 2016 reveal trailer for The Last of Us Part II, so recreating this with a phenomenal Aussie talent like Tash Sultana truly creates a special Australian moment to mark the launch of one of our biggest titles for PS4,” said Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia’s director of marketing, Patrick Lagana.
The Last Of Us Part II is a game that the PlayStation community has been awaiting for four years, following up the cinematic masterpiece that was the original game (winner of over 200 Game Of The Year Awards).
Sultana said she felt “honoured” to be part of the project. “This is the first time I’ve done a collab like this,” she said.
“Usually it’s kinda just like writing sessions with other musos but this is for a game and it’s different as it’s not my usual style to venture into so I’m completely honoured to be asked to do something like this. I can’t wait to see it in the game world.”
The game is available at the PlayStation Store and Aussie retailers now, exclusive to PS4.
