Tahlia-Rose Coleman promoted to Mastering Engineer at Studios 301

Tahlia-Rose Coleman has been promoted to Mastering Engineer at Studios 301, adding her five years of experience to the fabled recording studio’s Mastering department.

“I am incredibly excited to be welcomed to the Mastering department,” says Tahlia-Rose Coleman. “It’s been a dream of mine since University so having the opportunity to be mentored by Steve Smart and join such an amazing roster of engineers is truly a privilege.”

The new appointment makes Tahlia-Rose the first female mastering engineer in Studios 301’s 95-year history.

General Manager Ron Haryanto said the “Studios 301 family are extremely proud to officially welcome Tahlia to the mastering roster”.

“This announcement has actually been 12 months in the making and quite a slow burn for Tahlia,” says Haryanto. “Tahlia is one of the very rare people who have managed to get experience and work in every single part of Studios 301.

“She was part of our very first internship programme in the new 301 facility and since then has worked as an assistant, engineered, digitisation department, studio & mastering bookings and is now an official part of Australia’s largest and most prestigious mastering engineer roster. I have no doubt she will do great as she already is an asset to our very tight team. Very well deserved.”

After performing music throughout high school, Tahlia-Rose Coleman studied a Bachelor of Audio Engineering at SAE Sydney, focusing on mastering in her final year. After graduating in 2017, she joined Studios 301 as an intern under the mentorship of head engineer Steve Smart.

Tahlia-Rose Coleman has worked on recordings for Jai Waetford, Icevena, Warwick Kennedy and the Strangers, Astrals, SHIRA, and Damaged Goods Club, among others. More recently she worked on Lipgloss’s EP Better with a Deadline and mastered cult.disco’s debut track.

Studios 301 is the country’s largest and best-known recording, mixing and mastering studio, having hosted recordings for a who’s who of a-list artists, from Elton John to Kanye West, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Tones And I, and Delta Goodrem.

In December 2020, Abbey Road Institute, the specialist music production school—first created within the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London—moved into Studios 301’s Sydney space.
