AWMA

The 2025 Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA) winners were announced at a star-studded ceremony in Brisbane last night.

AWMA introduces #NominateThem: aimed at encouraging fans, colleagues and industry leaders to nominate those who may not self-nominate

Yumi Stynes returns as co-host with rock star Sarah McLeod, who will perform on the night alongside the likes of Mo’Ju, Nina Korbe and more.

The “playing field for women and creative minorities remains vastly inequitable," and we find ourselves at "a critical juncture,” she says.

Nominations for the fifth annual AWMAs are now open, and have a cut-off date of May 28, 2024, organisers have announced.

Vanessa Amorosi and Toni Watson (aka Tones And I), industry advocate Emily Collins, and veteran music journalist Jane Gazzo won at the AWMAs.

“It was amazing. We tackled Australia and we did really well together,” Amorosi recounts of her journey with Vicki Gordon.

The AWMAs, which returned after skipping 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic, is “the change maker,” says founder Vicki Gordon.

The AWMA has picked Aisha, Vivien Aisi, Amber Farnan, Ellie Hanlon, Jade Holland, Jade Kennedy, Kate Leahy & Cloe Terare as 2022's winners.

Love For My Sisters will showcase First Nations women who are exceptional artists, musicians and DJs in May.
