Sydney’s CREO ink management deal with Bear Parts Music: Exclusive

Sydney’s CREO ink management deal with Bear Parts Music: Exclusive

Sydney indie-rock quartet CREO, who in 2017 sold out their headline dates and shared stages with Nothing But ThievesMinus The Bear, and British India, have just inked a management deal.

TIO can exclusively reveal CREO is now signed to Melbourne-based boutique management company Bears Parts Music, the home of acts like Captives, Circles and Drown This City.

Last year CREO played 42 shows around Australia, including a slot at Falls Festival, and with local luminaries like Last Dinosaurs, Tired Lion, Polish Club and Bad//Dreems.

The band also released their EP Subtitles For XYZ in September, which was supported by likes of triple jtriple j Unearthed, FBi, 3RRR, RTR, 4ZZZ, and Spotify – who added the title track to a handful of their curated playlists.

Roy Amar:, CREO’s new manager and the head of Bear Parts Music told TIO:

“Upon hearing CREO for the first time I was blown away with their songwriting. I am so excited to work with such extremely talented individuals – I am a huge fan of the band. In the short time we have worked together I have been so inspired by their music.”

Amar told TIO it was the band’s debut EP Subtitles for X Y Z that hooked him in and the latest upcoming single “topped it right up.”

“I thought it would have been impossible, but they have,” he said. “I saw them play live for the first time at the Penny Black in Melbourne and although being a small venue their live performance was big enough for an arena. It’s a combination of incredible songwriters, electrifying live performances and beautiful human beings!”

CREO’s next EP In the Red is due out later this year; frontman Jorjee Haman has said its title track (our August 24) is about the cyclical nature of being a creative trying to achieve something.

“Sometimes you lose sight of why and focus on when, and then it feels like you’re treading water aimlessly,” said Haman. “That feeling of doing the same thing over and over and achieving what you think are the same results is a feeling that I really struggled with last year especially; I dare say I’m not the only one who goes through these emotional ruts, for lack of a better word.

“We sacrifice a lot to be able to pursue a career in the arts, and that can sometimes take a beating on your mental health. ‘In The Red’ is me desperately pleading whilst in that fragile moment of insecurity that something’s got to give”.

CREO is set to take ‘In The Red’ on tour next month for three dates in Sydney, Wollongong and Melbourne.
