Sydney one of six global cities to host Hard Rock Café music initiative
Sydney is one of the five cities around the world that is hosting the Hard Rock Café’s new music initiative to uncover global talent.
The contest is asking bands, musicians, DJs and MCs in six different cities around the world to re-arrange well-known songs into new genres and make them their own as part of a “battle of the bands” style contest.
The live performance-centered event will see artists performing three songs – two re-imagined covers and one of their original recordings, also adapted to a genre different than the one in which it was recorded.
The other cities in the contest are Nashville, Seattle, Moscow, Glasgow and Curitiba in Brazil.
The winning artist receives a grand prize that will include US$15,000 ((A$ 20.845) cash as well as an all-expense paid trip to New York City to perform at the original Paramount Theater at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC’s Times Square in front of leading music executives.
As a bonus, the Hard Rock music team will take the selected artist on a VIP tour of NYC highlight major music landmarks, studios and venues.
Artists that are submitting must have at least one member living within 50km of Sydney Hard Rock Cafe and must be at least 18 years of age.
