Sydney musician Tom Budin releases Mike Baird protest song
PRESS RELEASE:
Sydney musician Tom Budin has added his voice to the likes of Kyle Sandilands, Alan Jones, Tina Arena and a storm of social media fury over Sydney’s controversial lockout laws, unleashing a heavy-hitting dance anthem with a sharp political message titled ‘Mike Baird.’
The single, available on iTunes now, highlights the lock out law issue from the most fitting vantage point – the dance floor.
Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh said “It’s great to see musicians and artists rallying behind the cause. Politics has been missing from music for some time, and Tom’s track is not only cheeky and political, it’s a banger.”
Sydney producer Tom Budin was moved to write the track after seeing the storm of protest in his social media newsfeed. “Like everyone, I’ve been affected by the lockout laws and I just felt I needed to express my feelings on the matter and if a few people connect with the song and the anti-lockout movement that’s great. Maybe if we could even get the song to the top of the charts the Premier won’t be able to ignore that”.
With a percentage from sales of the single going towards supporting the Keep Sydney Open campaign, a huge Keep Sydney Open rallyjust announced for Sunday February 21 and Australian artists from Alison Wonderland to What So Not and Flight Facilities recently voicing their opinions strongly on the issue, it’s clear Australia’s music industry is joining the fight against lockouts in earnest.
