SXSW Sydney: WME’s Lucy Dickins, Frontier Touring’s Susan Heymann Added to Line-Up
The program for SXSW Sydney 2024 continues to grow, with Lucy Dickins, Susan Heymann and Will Page among the music industry standouts added to the speakers line-up.
Dickins, the global head of touring at WME (UK), will join Heymann, COO of Frontier Touring, winner of best promoter at the Variety Live Biz Breakfast, for a special In Conversation.
The addition of Dickins is a coup for SXSW Sydney; with a client roster including superstars Adele, Olivia Rodrigo, Mumford & Sons and James Blake, she’s one of the most influential talent agents working in today’s music industry.
Also announced Thursday, July 18, Will Page, former chief economist at Spotify, will unveil new research into the Australian music and streaming landscape at SXSW Sydney 2024. The Scotsman will present a report co-sponsored by Spotify Music and UNIFIED Music Group.
Meanwhile, the SXSW Sydney music program balloons with the addition of 40 artists, led by U.K. singer and songwriter Jorja Smith, winner of the 2018 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award and a 2019 Grammy nominee for best new artist.
As part of her national tour, Smith will perform Oct. 15 at ICC Sydney Theatre (SXSW Sydney badgeholders are encouraged to register here).
Also joining the showcase bill is Aysanabee (Canada), Acclaim Allstars winner Brazen Barbie (WA), Jamahl Yami (QLD), Kitschen Boy (VIC), PYRA (Thailand), Special Feelings (WA) and Submerse (U.K.)
Presenters for the second annual edition include ADA, APRA-AMCOS, Blak Label, Canada House, Concord Music Group, Future Classic, GigLifePro, Inertia & [PIAS], Meta, The Orchard, UNIFIED Music Group, Virgin Music and Warner Music, and Rolling Stone AU/NZ, which takes over the UTS Underground, a multi-room experience in the heart of Ultimo.
Set for Oct. 14-20 and produced by TEG, the second annual event will feature 23 conference tracks, including freshly-introduced talking points on the creator economy, cyber and your data, education and skills, fashion, lifestyle and beauty, and food.
According to organisers, 287,014 guests attended the first annual SXSW Sydney, with 97,462 “unique attendees” turning out.
Reporters from The Brag Media were among the 758 media and press, as almost 35,000 tickets (including badges, wristbands and day passes) were distributed.
Sydney is the APAC leg of SXSW and serves as the first expansion city outside of its original home, Austin, Texas, where the event was presented for the first time in 1987.
