SXSW 2019 applications open, category by category

Applications open on Monday, June 25 for the 2019 South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.

These are for act showcase, film screenings and tech presentations.

The interactive, film, and music industries will converge at the 2019 SXSW March 8-17.

These are the deadlines:

PanelPicker

PanelPicker is the official SXSW user-generated proposal platform developed to encourage the SXSW community to enter session ideas and have a significant voice in daytime conference programming.

The SXSW community is then able to browse proposals, leave comments, and vote to help shape the March event.

Deadline: July 20.

Community Service Awards

Six individuals and six organisations will receive a grant to an eligible tax-exempt or eligible charity of their choice, as well as a complimentary registration to SXSW 2019.

Film Submissions

Screening sections include feature film, short film, episodic, music video, virtual cinema, Texas High School short, and title sequence.

Interactive Innovation Awards

Celebrates the ever-widening variety of technology, projects, products, achievements and discoveries.

Innovators from across the digital industry can enter their exciting, new work in this competition – open to all projects, products, and developments launched or made in the calendar year of 2018.

Opens: June 25, 2018

Band showcase

Showcasing at SXSW means performing in one of the many venues located in downtown Austin for thousands of fans, reps, media, and fellow musicians from all over the world.

Early Deadline: September 13

Final Deadline: October 25

SXSW Art Program

Showcases experiential and visual artworks that apply emerging technologies and immersive environments to spark discovery, inspiration, and connection.

Official selections are chosen on the basis of their ability to enhance the landscape of the SXSW and bring inspiration, joy, and discovery to attendees.

All visual artists are eligible to enter their artwork to SXSW.

Early Deadline: September 21

Final Deadline: October 5

SXSW Pitch

Pitch your innovative startup in front of a live audience and panel of expert judges. Plus, be a part of product demos by the most ambitious talents in the world with the creative new ideas to change it.

SXSW Pitch alumni gained funding of a combined total of over $5.43 billion.

Final Deadline: November 8.

This year, 330 Aussie bands got exposed at SXSW. The Australian government’s multi-million dollar concept of Australia House on Rainey Street put a greater focus on all things Australian.

Acts and delegates used the space to perform, hold meetings and exhibit their products and services, screen their movies, highlight their food and beverages, and essentially show off how innovative Aussies can be.

Sounds Australia drove the live music program. Queensland-based music tech company Nightlife Music provided a soundtrack of 350 acts including Gang of Youths, Stella Donnelly and The Teskey Brothers.
