Support Act’s Head First conference is delayed to 2022
Support Act’s Head First conference has been pushed back to 2022.
The lockdowns that are creating chaos for travellers across the country have also made the day-long event a non-starter, at least for now.
The pow-wow was originally slated to take place on July 29th at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) in Surry Hills, then, due to the pandemic, was delayed to October.
Today, the music industry charity confirmed the decision to wait until next year to hold its inaugural pow-wow.
“We are so disappointed to have to postpone the conference once again,” comments Support Act CEO Clive Miller, “but we very much want delegates to meet face-to-face and get the full benefit of such a rich and varied mental health program.”
Head First was created as a space for industry professionals to discuss the issues surrounding mental health and wellbeing, with sessions focused on the four pillars of Health, Future, Workplace and Culture.
Speakers on the day would explore a range of topics such as “Can music make you sick,” “Measuring the price of music ambition,” “Sexual health and safety in the music industry,” “Bouncebackability – burnout, resilience and work/life balance” and more.
The seeds of the conference were planted during the darkest hours of the pandemic, which has had a crushing impact on Australia’s music industry.
In the 12 months from March 2020, Support Act reported a 3,000% increase in applications for support.
Miller continues, “we remain optimistic that life will be back to some kind of new normal in the first part of next year and look forward to announcing our rescheduled date soon.”
