Support Act launches free financial wellbeing course
Support Act has launched a free financial wellbeing course, Money Money Money, in partnership with accounting services company White Sky.
Launched just before the end of the financial year, the series of workshops is designed to educate music industry workers on mental wellbeing through effective money management and financial literacy. The first workshop on business structures, taxes and recordkeeping, hosted by Jo Syme, will take place on May 27 at White Sky’s offices in Melbourne’s Collingwood.
Tickets for the first session are available now and the event will also be available to watch through Support Act’s website. Future workshops will be a mix of in-person and livestreamed sessions for workers who aren’t based in Melbourne.
“Pursuing a financially stable career in the music industry can be challenging, complex and even unsustainable,” said Support Act CEO Clive Miller. “To thrive in the original ‘gig economy’, independent artists, artist managers, crew and music workers have to make informed decisions daily about how to make money, pay taxes and find financial stability.
“Working alongside White Sky, we’ve developed this brand new workshop series in the hope of getting some of those key literacy skills out there and upskilling our industry to do better this tax time.”
