Sunshine Coast’s Turn Up conference includes Stuart Coupe, Maggie Collins, in conversation

The program for this year’s Sunshine Coast music industry conference Turn Up includes two In Conversation panels.

They are with Stuart Coupe and Maggie Collins, whose careers have been marked by working a number of roles at the same time.

Coupe is a music author, radio presenter, former manager of the Hoodoo Gurus and Paul Kelly, and Laughing Outlaw label executive.

He will share insights about his 40-year career in the industry, and also about his books on roadies (out next month) and Paul Kelly (which he’s currently penning).

Directing the questions towards Coupe will be Leanne de Souza who is executive director of the Association of Artist Managers and founder and director of the Rock and Roll Writers Festival.

Maggie Collins will speak with Tyler McLoughlan (Sound Pound) about her busy life as owner of music services company Morning Belle, executive producer of BIGSOUND, manager of DZ Deathrays and presenting and producing for various shows across triple j Unearthed and Double J.

One panel covers management in the new music business, includes Collins, Matty Woo (Macro Music) and Jeff Chandler (Gympie Music Muster, Chandler Music Works) and is facilitated by de Souza.

Kellie Lloyd (APRA AMCOS) will oversee the panel on writing a killer song, with Charles Wall (Bobby Alu), Paulie B (Bobby Alu, The Beautiful Girls, george), Sahara Beck and Brooke Schubert.

Kim Pengelly of QMusic will do a presentation on the association.

Showcase performers are Sunshine Coast acts Hazel & Roanna Law, Dan Horne and Town.

“Turn up on October 18 and help make Australia’s leading industry experts part of your team.”

Now in its 5th year, Turn Up is held at The Playhouse at Solbar in Maroochydore from 4 pm to 11 pm.
