Streaming offers: free Spotify Premium in Australia, SoundCloud Go adds HQ
Spotify has quietly kicked off a promotion in Australia, giving away access to its $11.99-a-month Premium.
The offer ends on October 29.
The deal has only applied in two other countries, the UK and the Philippines.
Users must first submit their payment details to Spotify, which means the streaming service will start deducting payments for any user who forgets to cancel the promo deal when it expires.
Spotify has also updated its Premium mobile app on iOS and Android, streamlining its navigation for music discovery, artist radio stations and podcasts.
Following its strategy to offer more personalised experiences, the simplification of its Home, Search and Your Library either works on past listening habits or recommendations and updates of favourite genres.
In the meantime, SoundCloud has added high-quality streaming to its $10-a-month on-demand Go+ streaming service.
Content uploaded to its service in lossless formats will not be available to stream in a lossless quality like on Tidal or Deezer.
But these “will be available to stream in high quality at 256kbps AAC.”
Tidal and Deezer offer their HQ audio for $20 a month.
