Storm The Sky signs to UNFD
Australian independent music company Unified has another thing to add to the list of achievements during what has become a banner 2014 with the announcement that Melbourne post-hardcore six-piece Storm The Sky have signed to Unified’s heavy alternative label UNFD.
The band announced it via facebook:
“We’re extremely excited to finally announce that we’re now a part of the UNFD family! UNFD work with some of the world’s most respected bands and are a label who we’ve always admired right from when we started this band, so to now be a part of the family is truly overwhelming and humbling.
“We also just wanted to thank all our amazing fans for sticking by us and for the continuous support! We know we’ve been super quiet over the past year, but having said that, we’re also really excited to let you all know that we recorded our debut album with Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, Sleeping With Sirens) earlier this year.”
Luke Logemann, Head of Recorded Music at Unified told TMN that Storm The Sky have actually been on their radar for quite some time:
“We’ve been fans of Storm The Sky for quite a while and I’ve been aware of how well they’ve been doing since the release of their EP, which I believe has sold over 4,000 copies already. We always said we’d want to work with them on the album, once it was finished. Around June they gave me a copy of the record and I fell in love with it right away. It’s a massive step up for them and will bring these six young guys a huge amount of attention when it drops. For us this is an exciting moment, we love breaking artists and we love the early moments when you see a record connect with an audience around the world. Thats why it’s a priority for us, because this is what really excites us about UNFD – the ability to help artists achieve their goals.”
The band’s debut LP Permanence will be released on January 16, with the lead track Same Graves to be premiered on triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud this Wednesday night.
This is the latest achievement in what has been a stellar year for Unified. Earlier this year they announced a partnership with Fearless records and Rise Records in the US, announced their very own heavy music festival and has seen a plethora of chart success with both local and international artists.
