Spotify’s most streamed for 2015

Drake was the most streamed artist globally on Spotify in 2015, it revealed in its Year In Music 2015 list. He notched up 1.8 billion streams this year and 56 million listeners.

Through the last 12 months, over 75 million listeners buzzed to 20 billion hours of music on the streaming service, with more than 2 billion playlists created.

Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist of all time – and the most streamed male artist in Australia and most streamed UK artist of the year – with 3 billion streams to his name.

Sia was the Australian act most streamed globally on Spotify, followed by 5 Seconds of Summer, Iggy Azalea, Vance Joy and AC/DC.

Rihanna, the most streamed global female of the year was also the most streamed female in Australia.

Last month Justin Bieber set two new Spotify records. On November 13 he earned the most streams (36 million) in a single day. His Purpose had the most album streams in a single week with over 205 million.

Lean On by Major Lazer ft. MO and DJ Snake was the most streamed song of 2015 with 540 million clicks, which also made it the most streamed song of all time on Spotify.
