Spotify targets Aussie radio listeners with music + news playlist
Aussies can finally experience Spotify’s personalised car experience playlist, bringing together news talk and music.
Your Daily Drive rolled out in the US last June, and has now arrived in Australia.
The playlist is available within the ‘Driving’, ‘Made For You’ and ‘Travel’ hubs, via Home and Browse on the Spotify app.
It’s being tagged as “an escape from toggling between stations.
“If it feels like you’re always in the car, you’re not alone. Americans log 70 billion hours behind the wheel each year, with a big chunk of that time spent commuting to and from work or school,” says Spotify.
“To help make that time fly by, stay up to date on the world around you, and maybe even rock out to a few timeless classics, we are excited to introduce Your Daily Drive.”
Your Daily Drive is updated throughout the day, with short-form weekday podcast news updates taken from news.com.au’s From The News, Mamamia’s The Quicky, as well as The Squiz and Schwartz Media’s 7am.
On weekends, there’ll also be content included from The Betoota Advocate Podcast, The Squiz Shortcuts, Today In True Crime and Shots Of Science Vs.
The new playlist is also about music discovery, with new tracks you might not have heard included, while your most-played songs are mixed in too.
