Spotify and Instagram have announced a new partnership that will allow users to share what they are listening to on Instagram Stories and Instagram Direct.

The new feature will see Instagram unlock custom art and stickers for each song, playlist, album or artist on Spotify, to be shared on Stories with a link straight to the song on the streaming service.

The new feature is accessible through Spotify’s “share” menu by tapping the Instagram Stories option. Instagram’s editing tools can then be used to personalise the image before it is shared.

Instagram has also announced GoPro integration as part of the new update, with action shots taken on the action cameras now able to be shared directly using the GoPro app to Instagram.

The news comes as Spotify revealed its fiscal performances in the first quarter of 2018, with sale’s up 26% on the first quarter of 2017.

MBW reports that Q1 revenues were US$1.4 billion, and operating losses in that period US$50.4 million.

Spotify also revealed that its paid subscriber base hit 75 million as of the end of March 2018, an increase of 4 million from the end of 2017 and a 45% increase year-on-year.

Last month the Swedish streaming service announced the first upgrade to its “freemium” tier in four years, giving new services to those 90 million users.
