Spotify have finally increased the number of songs you can download

Spotify have finally lifted one of their most arbitrary limits, and now allow users to download far more than 3,333 songs onto their devices.

Spotify listeners tend to have very few gripes with the service overall, but ask any frequent user, and they’ll tell you that download limits are often the bane of their existence.

Until now, Spotify allowed users to download 3,333 songs to their device for offline listening, across three devices. While this was well and good, listeners often found themselves running into the upper limit, and usually had to make a less tragic version of Sophie’s Choice in regards to which tracks they wanted to keep, and which they wanted to cull.

Now, as Rolling Stone reports, Spotify have upped the limit, meaning that you’ll have to download thrice as much before you run into any trouble.

“At Spotify, we’re always working on improving the experience for our users,” a spokesperson for the company explained. “We can now confirm that we have increased the number of offline tracks per device — from 3,333 on three devices to 10,000 tracks per device for up to five devices.”

For those playing at home, that’s a total of 50,000 songs that users now have access to across their devices. Of course, it’s definitely not an infinite amount of songs, but we’re certain that there are going to be a lot of happy music-lovers obsessively downloading tracks for offline listening over the next couple of days.

As The Verge notes though, Spotify’s limit of 10,000 songs on your personal library is still in place, but hopefully an increase in their offline downloading limits might mean that a change is on the horizon.
