If you’re a fan of music made by folks in the great state of South Australia, then you might want to make sure you’ve got your votes in for the fifth annual South Australian Music Awards.
Set to take place on November 3rd, the 2020 edition of the SAM Awards was announced back in August, with submissions opening alongside the announcement of the judging panel.
In addition to the traditional industry-voted awards, the people’s choice awards feature are set to recognise some of the names that excel in all variety of genres, with awards being handed out for those who label themselves Rock, Folk, Punk, Pop, Soul/Funk/R&B, and much more.
Following a massive amount of submissions, voting for the people’s choice category opened up soon afterwards, and is set to close this Friday, October 2nd. Some of the best and brightest names on the local scene are up for voting this year, including the likes of 2019 winners Horror My Friend and Dead Roo.
In a statement released alongside the awards’ announcement, newly-appointed General Manager at Music SA, Kim Roberts explained: “In what’s been a very difficult year for our industry, I’m really looking forward to celebrating all of the excellent music and fantastic achievements that have emerged out of SA in the last year. It’s such a great opportunity to acknowledge the creativity and innovation that makes our community so exciting.
The 2020 SAM Awards are set to be handed out on November 3rd at a socially-distanced COVID-conscious ceremony in Adelaide. It remains to be seen whether or not the event will welcome visitors from around the country, or if the pandemic age turns it into an all-South Aussie event, though it’s clear that the state’s great artists will receive the recognition they so rightly deserve all the same.
Voting for the 2020 South Australian Music Awards closes this Friday, October 2nd, so be sure to get your vote in now.
