Soundwave to revert to single-day format in 2016

Soundwave 2016 will be a one-date, East Coast only festival.

That’s according to its Twitter-happy promoter AJ Maddah, who this morning tweeted: “going back to 1 day per city. 2 weekends.”

2015 is the first year festival organisers decided to extend each date to two days, the decision was made in response to fans' comments about timetable clashes and artist feedback about set lengths. Despite this, Maddah called ticket sales in Adelaide “pathetic” on Twitter and announced that Soundwave wouldn’t be returning to Adelaide after this year’s run, citing ailing support from heavy music fans in Adelaide. When punters urged Maddah to move it to a one-day event to aid sales, he refused.

Soundwave kicks off in Adelaide and Melbourne tomorrow with headliners Faith No More, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Slash and Marilyn Manson.
