SOTD: Katy Perry comes full circle with Zedd on ‘365’
Katy Perry has been out of the radio spotlight since her 2017 album Witness. This year, however, seems like a fresh start for the singer as she teams with hailed DJ and producer Zedd on new collab ‘365’, a rhythmic, pop-driven toe-tapper that sees a return to Perry’s days of old.
The pair started writing together while on tour together in Australia, but it wasn’t until their “musical value systems” aligned that the track began taking shape.
“As it all came together, we knew we had something special,” Zedd explains. “I love how Katy sounds on this record. I’m so excited to finally share this with our fans.”
Perry stands as one of the most successful artists in TMN Hot 100 history with eight unique #1 singles. 2013 smash ‘Roar’ enjoyed eight unbroken weeks at the top, while ‘California Gurls’ ft. Snoop Dogg had six.
Zedd has no Hot 100 chart-toppers to his name, but the DJ has contributed to some of the biggest tracks of past few years, including the Grammy-nominated ‘The Middle’ (#2), as well as ‘Stay’ (#3) and ‘Clarity’ (#5).
