Sophie Paterson to depart Spotify after eight years leading comms
Communications specialist Sophie Paterson is departing Spotify, TMN can reveal.
Paterson has been with the music streaming giant for eight years as its head of PR and communications across Australia and New Zealand and will finish late April.
Spotify has already begun the search for a replacement, with applications now open.
Paterson was instrumental in championing locally-driven social impact initiatives, including the First Nations audio creator communities and gender equity programs.
Prior to joining Spotify, she worked on campaigns for Schweppes, Parklife, Vodafone, Coopers, Take 40 and the Yellow Pages, as an account manager at Frank PR.
TMN understands she’s not leaving the music industry though, having recently accepted an offer to join another music-focused business in June.
She becomes the second senior executive to leave Daniel Ek’s empire this month after it was revealed that local managing director Karen Lawson had also left the business.
A spokesperson for Spotify declined to comment on any departures.
Spotify’s head of automation and data Dan Robins and head of sales Cassie Gilbert have also left the company during the previous 12 months.
