Social Media Chart Wrap: Zayn & David Guetta go head to head
While Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift remain locked at #1 and #2 fighting to get a jump on each other, Zayn and David Guetta make some notable changes in the Top 20.
Leading between the two of them at #13 is former #1 David Guetta with Zayn at #14. Propelling his lead is his strong presence on Facebook and YouTube where he’s in the Top 10 for each medium while not being far behind on Instagram (#30) and Twitter (#17).
David Guetta’s Facebook page (ranked 8th) now has well over 55 million likes. Most of the engagement is coming from his pinned competition giving fans a chance to record his next single. Guetta also manages to keep a certain level of fan interaction, even with 55 million likes, occasionally replying to fan comments.
Guetta also dominates the realm of YouTube (currently #6th) with the most engaging content in the past week being his set from Miami Ultra Music Festival – the footage currently sits at 1.5 million views – and the preview to his collaborative new single with Disciples,No Worries. It’s clocked upjust under 300,000 views.
His weakest medium is his website which is ranked a at dismal #393, compared to Zayn’s #132. This is where the 1D expat makes up for lost ground.
While Zayn’s Facebook (#59) and YouTube (#36) presence could be improved, he has consistently strong engagement on both Instagram (#15) and Twitter (#13).
With 9.3 million followers, Zayn’s Instagram is a hot bed of fan engagement. Averaging roughly 2-3 posts a week, Zayn’s tiny insights into his life have garned a combined total of 1.5 million likes and just under 35,000 comments.
His Twitter boasts a healthy 18.7 million followers with plenty of interactions. A tweet of an emoji alone scored 43,000 retweets and 69,000 likes. With plenty of images and fan retweets, Zayn manages to keep a dedicated following which will only get larger as he pursues his still fledgling solo career.
