Adelaide singer-songwriter Sia has scored her first #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Her sixth studio LP 1000 Forms of Fear debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart on Saturday and last night entered the US chart in the peak position, her first #1 album on both charts.

According to Neilsen SoundScan, 1000 Forms of Fear sold 52,000 copies in its first week. Billboard has reported the figure is the lowest the chart has seen for a #1 album in almost two years and marks the smallest ever sales week for album sales since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.

Until recently, Sia was most renowned for her songwriting chops, having co-written singles Diamonds (for Rihanna), Let Me Love You (for Ne-Yo), Pretty Hurts (for Beyonce) and Perfume (for Britney Spears). She also helped Flo Rida reach #1 on the ARIA Singles chart as the featuring artist on his song Wild Ones and helped David Guetta hit #5 on the ARIA chart as a featuring artist on his single Titanium.

Chandelier, the lead and only single to be released so far from 1000 Forms of Fear greatly contributed to her Billboard chart success. Chandelier was her first top 20 hit on the Hot 100 and her live performances of the track on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late Night With Seth Meyers (with Lena Dunham) and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she opted not to show her face, were all part of her nontraditional album campaign with RCA Records.

Locally, Chandelier entered the TMN Hot 100 chart at #57, jumped to #11 in its second week and broke the top 10 in its third week where it remained for 11 weeks. Nine weeks after its release Chandelier reached its high point of #2 before eventually dropping to its current position of #19.
