Sia promoter hit with strange lawsuit from fans
A questionable lawsuit has been brought against Sia’s promoter for her show in Israel, Tandi Productions.
According to the Jerusalem Post,a number of fans at the Adelaide-born artist’s Tel Aviv concert (on August 11) have put forward a class action lawsuit.
Among the alleged complaints are that the concert was too short at 65 minutes, that there was not enough banter, that the big screen didn’t depict what was happening onstage (it showed footage of celebrities like Kristen Wiig and Gaby Hoffman dancing), that the sync to the video didn’t match, and that the lighting and colours depicted in the video were better than the stage performance.
One attendee told theTimes of Israel:“She just stood there during the whole performance, toward the back of the stage and didn’t say anything other than ‘Thank You’ when the show was over.”
The fans who filed the suit are reportedly seeking NIS 8m (AU$2.7m) to be paid to all ticket holders from the Yarkon Park concert. Fans paid 344 ILS (AU$119) for the show.
Meanwhile,Tandi Productions’ CEO Ilan Elkayam has told IQ Maghe has not yet received the claim and that despite initial reports, “the claim was not submitted against Sia herself.”
“We wish to emphasise that the performance was extremely successful and we have received hundreds of comments from satisfied fans who thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the production,” Elkayam told IQ.
Interestingly, Tandi Productions’ Facebook account was created in late January and seems to exclusively promote the Sia show. Its official website is under construction.
Sia took to Twitter today to tell her fans every moment of her show is “purely intentional.”
